Cultivating Emotional Balance: An 18-hour Training

Saturday October 21, 28 November 4, 11, 18, 25, 1-4 pm
Hosted by Tibet House US

Cultivating Emotional Balance is a comprehensive training method centered around the exploration of our emotional landscape and using its energy to support greater wellbeing—essentially, a greater sense of happiness, meaning and joy in the midst of our turbulent times.

Developed by Dr. Alan Wallace, Dr. Paul Ekman and Dr. Eve Ekman at the request of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, CEB is a secular approach that combines the scientific understanding of emotions as an evolutionary mechanism with the profound contemplative methods for developing concentration, kindness and insight.

The intermediate 18-hour course, consisting of six 3-hour long sessions (each with a break in the middle), will introduce the participants to emotional theory and practical skills that can be used for emotional regulation, attentional training, and effective communication. In addition to mastering foundational skills related to emotional episodes and moods, we will focus on 3 specific emotional families: anger, fear (which includes worry and anxiety), and sadness.
