IN-DEPTH COURSE: The Breath of Kindness: Uniting Prana and Maitrī in Meditation

Every Saturday from June 1-July 6
12-2pm ET
Online via Zoom

A 6-part training course with Michael Lobsang Tenpa
6 meetings of 2 hours each

The practice of loving kindness (mettā in Pali, maitrī in Sanskrit) has long been a staple of Buddhist contemplative training, and has lately become an important element of secular mindfulness-based interventions as well. However, few people look at its deeper applications, related to the Tibetan Buddhist teachings on breathing, energy (or prana), inner anatomy, and profound mental states.

In this six-part course facilitated by Tibetan Buddhist translator and meditation instructor Michael Lobsang Tenpa, we will look at the connection between natural breathing, subtle energy (or prana), and loving kindness practices. Starting with the foundational methods for awakening loving kindness (along with its companion states, such as compassion, tenderness, appreciation and so on), we will gradually train in using love for inner purification—and, in return, in using the breath for strengthening loving kindness.

This gradual approach will help us make our daily meditation stronger and provide us with valuable insights about the connection between our deepest nature and the qualities of kindness we display in our daily life.
